President Erdogan revealed that Turkey will export 48 advanced fighter aircraft to Indonesia as part of a $10 billion defense contract.
The agreement covers the Kaan stealth jet, produced by Turkish Aerospace Industries, which completed its first flight in February 2024 and uses F-16 engines during its early stages. Full deliveries are scheduled to span 10 years, with a future plan to implement indigenous propulsion systems.
Defense exports have become a pillar of Turkey’s economy, bringing in $7.1 billion in 2024—up from $5.5 billion the year before.
