The Norwegian Armed Forces awarded Kongsberg a five-year contract last year to provide maritime surveillance data using the ARVAKER I microsatellite. The satellite was launched from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California on SpaceX’s Transporter-13 mission, and soon after deployment, it established two-way communication with the mission control center of Kongsberg NanoAvionics. ARVAKER I will aid in maritime security by identifying illegal fishing, smuggling, environmental offenses, and other illegal activities.
