“Airbus has been awarded a contract to provide two more NATO A330 Multi-Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) planes.”
The agreement, which calls for deliveries in 2028 and 2029, will increase the alliance’s refueling and cargo capacity to 12 vehicles.
Sweden and Denmark officially joined NATO’s Multinational MRTT Fleet (MMF) program, a structure run by the alliance’s Support and Procurement Agency to pool and distribute heavy airlift systems across member states, and the purchase was made. The MMF project now has eight member states with the authority to run the fleet as a result of the addition of the nations.
The new A330s will be manufactured and modified at Airbus’s sites in Toulouse, France, and Getafe, Spain, according to the company.
