The Danish Ministry of Defence has placed an additional order for 44 CV9035 MkIIIC infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs), expanding its investment in the BAE Systems-built CV90 platform. The order supplements the 115 CV90s purchased in 2024, bringing the Royal Danish Army’s future inventory to 159 CV9035 MkIIIC vehicles by the end of the decade. This new acquisition effectively replaces Denmark’s earlier plan for a mid-life upgrade to its existing fleet of 44 CV9035DK vehicles, aligning the entire force with the latest CV90 configuration. With an estimated value of $450 million, the deal covers not only the vehicles themselves but also spare parts, logistics support, and training to ensure long-term readiness. The MkIIIC variant mirrors the standards adopted in the Netherlands’ CV90 upgrade, incorporating an advanced turret system and updated mission technologies. The CV90 platform, manufactured by BAE Systems Hägglunds, is known for its adaptability and ability to host multiple weapon systems, including autocannons, machine guns, grenade launchers, and anti-tank missiles. Denmark first introduced the CV90 into service in 2007 and now joins a broader NATO community that operates or is procuring the system, including Estonia, Finland, Sweden, and others pursuing joint CV90 procurement initiatives. Additionally, Denmark and Sweden have supplied CV90s to Ukrainian forces, bolstering Ukraine’s armored capabilities in ongoing combat operations against Russia.
