Hyundai Rotem has begun work on South Korea’s next-generation main battle tank, the K3, which is set to replace the K2 platform. Developed in collaboration with leading national defense organizations, the K3 will initially utilize a hybrid hydrogen-diesel power system, with plans to transition to a fully hydrogen-powered model.

Hydrogen fuel cell technology offers multiple benefits for the platform, including reduced noise and heat output, enhanced fuel efficiency, and improved maneuverability. These features are expected to deliver lower maintenance demands and superior off-road capabilities.
