Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer has proposed establishing a final assembly line in India for its regional jets, contingent upon Indian airlines placing firm orders exceeding 200 aircraft. As an interim option, the company suggested setting up a completion center for interior finishing and delivery preparation. Embraer estimates India could require up to 500 regional jets driven by regional connectivity expansion under the UDAN program. Discussions are ongoing with major airlines including Air India and IndiGo, while potential assembly locations are being explored in Gujarat.
