On December 3, 2024, Embraer signed an agreement with the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) during the Mostra BID—Brazil’s National Defense and Security Fair in Brasília—to initiate joint studies aimed at enhancing the capabilities of the C-390 Millennium transport aircraft.
The collaborative effort will focus on developing a new variant, the C-390 IVR, optimized for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions, with a particular focus on maritime patrol. According to a CGI released by Embraer, the IVR configuration is expected to include anti-ship missile capability, significantly broadening the aircraft’s operational versatility.
This initiative marks a strategic step in reinforcing Brazil’s maritime security and extending the mission profile of the C-390 Millennium platform.
