General Atomics AeroTec Systems has introduced the Do228 NXT, a modernized aircraft tailored for fast-evolving maritime surveillance and border security missions. Designed to perform reliably in demanding and austere environments, the aircraft features short takeoff and landing capability, enabling operations from remote airstrips and limited infrastructure locations. The Do228 NXT integrates advanced avionics, including an autopilot, sophisticated navigation systems, dual attitude and air data sensors, and enhanced safety features such as terrain awareness and collision avoidance, significantly reducing pilot workload during complex missions. Powered by twin Honeywell turboprop engines, the aircraft delivers strong cruise performance, operational altitude, and payload flexibility. Its adaptable design supports missions ranging from coastal patrol and naval reconnaissance to environmental monitoring and protection of underwater infrastructure, with its first public appearance planned at Navy Tech 2026 in Sweden.
