The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) has canceled plans to station up to 12 F-15SG fighters at Andersen Air Force Base, Guam. The project was originally introduced in a 2019 US-Singapore defense MoU, with a detachment planned by 2029. Washington cited environmental impact concerns, while Singapore’s Ministry of Defence said updated training requirements rendered the base unnecessary. Despite the cancellation, Singapore confirmed it will continue short-term training in Guam, including one later this year. Meanwhile, the US Air Force will invest in new infrastructure at Andersen AFB—including 20 acres of ramps, fuel lines, and roads—for expanded aircraft operations. Currently, the RSAF maintains detachments in Arizona, Idaho, Australia, and France, with another F-35 unit planned in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Had the Guam project continued, it would have been the closest long-term overseas RSAF deployment to Singapore.
