India’s Ministry of Defence has recommended a major joint initiative with France to co-develop a 120 kN-class fighter jet engine, marking a pivotal step in India’s drive for defense self-reliance. The project, valued at ₹61,000 crore, will power future Indian combat aircraft like the AMCA. Scheduled to align with the AMCA’s prototype and flight testing timeline, the collaboration ensures full technology transfer and promises to build India’s design, manufacturing, and maintenance capabilities for next-gen propulsion systems.
