The first phase of a project to create intelligent camouflage technologies for military vehicles and gear has come to an end, according to the European Defense Agency (EDA). The Advanced Solutions for Camouflage of Land Systems Using Smart and Adaptive Materials (ASCALS) program is a response to advancements in surveillance technologies such as visible, radar, and thermal detection. The objective of the almost two-year, 1.3-million-euro ($1.42-million) phase was to create materials that can change in response to various environmental factors.
