German defense manufacturer KNDS and counter-UAS specialist TYTAN Technologies have formalized an expanded partnership focused on mobile counter-drone systems for land forces. The memorandum of understanding builds on earlier integration work already demonstrated with the German Armed Forces, particularly the installation of TYTAN’s kinetic Interceptor-S system within the mission compartment of the BOXER RCT30 armored vehicle. The configuration was previously showcased during Bundeswehr trials in Munster and Bergen, where emerging operational technologies undergo field assessment. The collaboration centers on drone-on-drone interception, an approach gaining momentum as militaries confront low-cost, rapidly proliferating UAV threats near the battlefield. Under the new agreement, both firms aim to develop scalable counter-UAS capabilities to protect armored platforms and deployed crews. Beyond integration, the partnership envisions establishing a European standard for mobile UAS launch solutions. The agreement reflects Germany’s broader push to enhance short-range air defense and counter-drone readiness, complementing efforts by Rheinmetall, Hensoldt, and other domestic players.
