South Korea has launched a major program to develop its first dedicated stand-off electronic warfare aircraft, with LIG Nex1 leading system development under a $1.1-billion contract. Working with Korean Air, the project will convert a Bombardier business jet into a platform capable of jamming, deceiving, and collecting enemy signals from outside contested airspace. The aircraft will address long-standing gaps in Korea’s EW posture, previously limited to fighter-mounted systems. Delivery is scheduled for 2034 amid growing concerns over electronic interference from North Korea.
