Lockheed Martin has expanded cooperation with the Philippines as part of its bid to supply F-16 Block 70 multi-role fighters. In partnership with Southern Methodist University and its digital manufacturing and innovation labs, the program will introduce advanced tools including VR/AR, robotics, AI, and simulation modeling. Beyond aircraft sales, the initiative includes business incubation, government collaborations, academic programs, and a new research and training center. The F-16 Block 70 itself represents the most advanced version of the fighter, equipped with APG-83 AESA radar, Center Pedestal Display, Sniper targeting pod, and Legion-ES IRST sensor. It also offers a 12,000-hour service life, conformal fuel tanks, and enhanced mission performance. If approved, the deal would significantly boost the Philippines’ aerospace ecosystem while giving its Air Force a modern combat jet.
