“For the Hellenic Army, KNDS France has collaborated with Metlen Energy & Metals of Athens to manufacture the armored infantry fighting vehicle (VBCI) “Philoctetes”.
The agreement is consistent with a plan unveiled in 2022 to construct a next-generation Greek armored fleet modeled after the French Army’s current 8×8 VBCI system, which KNDS and Arquus created.
According to the terms of the agreement with Metlen, KNDS will give the Philoctetes’ hull the knowledge pertaining to the aluminum armor and production methods of the VBCI Mark 2 welded structure.
To fulfill the mass production needs of both the Hellenic military and possible clients in Europe, similar data will be utilized to strengthen the bilateral industrial collaboration between France and Greece.
