The US Department of State has approved a proposed $325 million arms sale to provide long-term support for Kuwait’s Abrams main battle tanks. The support package ensures Kuwait can maintain combat-ready M1A2 and M1A2K variants, keeping its land forces aligned with modern battlefield standards.
The deal includes extensive services such as field diagnostics, mission software support, preventive maintenance programs, and emergency response repair capabilities. Additionally, it will enhance Kuwait’s ability to manage and store critical spare parts and offer supply chain resilience in the event of geopolitical or logistical disruptions.
General Dynamics Land Systems, one of the leading defense manufacturers in North America, will manage the contract. The package is expected to improve tank lifespan and reduce overall operational downtime, benefiting Kuwait’s readiness in border defense and regional coalition efforts.
