The US Department of Defense has awarded GM Defense an $18.8-million contract to supply additional Infantry Squad Vehicles for the US Army. The agreement covers 121 vehicles along with supporting equipment such as storage covers, anti-lock brake systems, and electronic stability control kits. If all contract options are exercised, the total value could reach $458.4 million. Work locations and funding allocations will be specified with individual orders, and the overall contract framework is expected to run through 2027. The award follows a previous contract granted in February 2025 for additional ISV procurement. As of November 2025, the US Army’s inventory included more than 1,100 Infantry Squad Vehicles. According to budget projections for fiscal year 2026, the military plans to acquire up to 9,282 units under the broader program. The ISV platform is derived from the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 pickup truck and is designed to provide highly mobile transportation for infantry squads. The vehicle can carry up to nine soldiers and transport payloads of approximately 3,200 pounds. It can also be armed with machine guns, grenade launchers, or counter-drone weapons and deployed via helicopter sling load or low-velocity airdrop from cargo aircraft.
