RTX subsidiary Pratt & Whitney has announced a $200-million investment to expand manufacturing capabilities at its Columbus, Georgia facility, aiming to meet growing demand for military and commercial aircraft engines. The expansion includes installation of a seventh isothermal forging press scheduled to become operational in 2028, increasing production of critical turbine and compressor components by roughly 30 percent. The facility supports multiple programs, including the geared turbofan engines powering Airbus and Embraer aircraft as well as the F135 engine used on the F-35 fighter. The move follows a recent modernization project that expanded maintenance and overhaul capacity, reinforcing long-term sustainment capabilities across global aviation markets.
