The U.S. Navy has awarded Pratt & Whitney a $1.6-billion contract to sustain the F135 engine powering the F-35. The package includes spare parts, depot and unit-level maintenance, technical data updates, training, and propulsion integration efforts. Work will occur across multiple U.S. states and partner nations, with completion expected by November 2026. Pratt & Whitney continues to develop propulsion technologies including the XA103 adaptive engine and powerplants for the USAF’s Collaborative Combat Aircraft loyal-wingman drones.
