The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) has received the final nine of 72 F-35A Lightning II combat planes, completing a procurement deal that began in 2010. These F-35As will operate alongside the RAAF’s existing F/A-18F Super Hornet and EA-18G Growler aircraft at RAAF Base Williamtown in New South Wales, as outlined by Canberra’s national defense policy. The F-35A system is currently utilized by the air force across three operational squadrons and a training group in both the Northern Territory and New South Wales.
