Saudi Arabia has ordered four C-27J Maritime Patrol Aircraft from Leonardo, marking the first procurement of the MPA variant with integrated maritime strike capability. Deliveries to the Royal Saudi Naval Forces are expected to begin in 2029. Based on the C-27J Spartan platform, the aircraft will conduct surveillance, search and rescue, transport, and armed patrol missions. Equipped with Leonardo’s Airborne Tactical Observation and Surveillance system, the aircraft can carry torpedoes and anti-ship missiles such as the MBDA Marte-ER and MU90 lightweight torpedoes.
