United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has warned that the escalating exchange of attacks between Iran and the United States could trigger a broader regional conflict, jeopardizing the fragile ceasefire established in April. Speaking before the UN Security Council, Guterres stressed that continued military actions risk transforming isolated clashes into a full-scale war. The warning followed renewed hostilities after Iran launched strikes against American bases in Jordan and Bahrain in response to US military operations conducted after the downing of a US helicopter. UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk also expressed concern over the repeated escalation and emphasized the importance of adhering to ceasefire commitments and international law. The conflict, which began with US-Israeli strikes on Iran, has already destabilized the region and affected global markets.
