Japan has taken a major step in modernizing its pilot training fleet with a contract awarded to Textron Aviation Defense for the T-6JP Texan II. The deal covers two aircraft and associated training systems, replacing the long-serving T-7 platform. Deliveries are expected by 2029, with Kanematsu Corporation supporting local coordination. The T-6JP offers advanced digital training features, optional simulation links, and compatibility with NATO-standard systems, ensuring seamless transition to front-line fighters. With a global fleet exceeding 1,000 aircraft, the Texan II continues to serve as a cornerstone of modern military flight training.
