Two De Havilland Twin Otter short takeoff and landing (STOL) utility planes have been delivered to Denmark’s Home Guard in order to increase its assistance to the broader defense and police force. The planes, which were leased for eight years and customized for patrol duty, will be utilized for surveillance, search, and other essential support tasks in domestic operations and regions covered by the European border agency Frontex. The two will take the place of two Britten-Normann Defender transport aircraft that were purchased in 2015 under a separate lease agreement and will soon be retired after accumulating about 6,800 flying hours.
