Diehl Defence, a German company, and Spanish engineering company Sener have agreed to increase their cooperation in a number of developing defense technologies, such hypersonic missiles, remote carriers, and unmanned ground vehicles.
The deal describes intentions to jointly develop technologies connected to the Future Combat Air System (FCAS), a next-generation European air combat initiative led by France, Germany, and Spain.
Diehl and Sener hope to make contributions to subsystems like unmanned platforms and guided missiles, which are predicted to be essential to FCAS architecture.
The businesses have maintained a connection for more than 20 years.
According to Rafael Orbe, Director General of Defense at Sener, the collaboration is “a step forward in our long history of partnership and common trust, opening new opportunities of collaboration that will strengthen the relationship between Diehl Defense and Sener.”
Sener has been a crucial industrial partner in the IRIS-T missile program, manufacturing aerodynamic pieces and control systems for both the ground-launched and air-to-air variants of the weapon.
The IRIS-T system, which Diehl Defence leads, is commonly employed by allied and NATO air forces as a short-range air defense system.
