L3Harris Technologies has delivered the first overhauled P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft to the U.S. Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), marking a key milestone under a contract awarded in September 2024. The upgrade work was conducted at L3Harris’ Waco, Texas facility and includes depot-level maintenance, structural refurbishments, avionics enhancements, and systems testing.
The contract, part of the U.S. Navy’s long-term readiness plan, covers support for 139 P-8A units through September 2029. The Poseidon fleet plays a vital role in anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, ISR, and maritime patrol missions. L3Harris is currently working on seven additional aircraft with nine scheduled for induction in the first year, including support for foreign military sales.
