The Indian Ministry of Defense has given state-owned BEML Ltd. contracts to manufacture heavy-duty trailers and 8×8 high-mobility vehicles for the Indian Army. The purchase of military trailers is expected to cost 835 million Indian rupees ($9.8 million), while the transaction for the locally produced 8×8 trucks is worth 1.36 billion Indian rupees ($16 million). The precise quantity of automobiles being bought has not been made public.
