In a joint effort to replace the Eurofighter Typhoon with a supersonic next-generation fighter jet by 2035, the UK, Italy, and Japan established a joint venture on Friday. With a 33.3% ownership interest for each company, the new enterprise, “marking a pivotal moment for the international aerospace and defence industry,” will be jointly owned by Britain’s BAE Systems, Italy’s Leonardo, and Japan Aircraft Industrial Enhancement Co Ltd (JAIEC).
