At an international special operations exhibition in Martignas-sur-Jalle, Airbus unveiled the prototype of the French Army’s NH90 Caïman Standard 2 multirole helicopter. The aircraft is a component of Paris’ initiative to incorporate next-generation capabilities into troops assigned to extraction, fire support, and other rapid deployment operations that need low visibility. The Standard 2 has features that are specifically designed for covert operations, such as an infrared camera with a laser pointer and designator, a modern radio communications kit, and new weapon systems.
