Using 3D printing and ground-down pieces from decommissioned Royal Air Force Tornado aircraft, new parts have been made for the UK’s next generation of military airplanes. Titanium-rich components, like jet engine compressor blades, were chosen for recycling. Additive Manufacturing Solutions (AMS) manufactured the parts into a nose cone and 3D-printed compressor blades, which were then installed on an Orpheus small engine design.
