In a key defense milestone, Turkey has handed over combat and utility helicopters to Somalia under a joint security arrangement finalized earlier this year.
The shipment—three T129 attack helicopters and two transport types—was delivered with assistance from Turkish A400Ms and a Qatari C-17A cargo plane, highlighting regional military cooperation.
The aircraft deployment is part of a decade-long Turkish-Somali defense pact, which aims to enhance Somalia’s ability to counter insurgencies and defend its strategic coastal infrastructure.
