On December 4, 2024, the U.S. Army awarded Boeing a Lot 3 contract worth $135 million (€127.7 million) for the production of three additional CH-47F Block II Chinook heavy-lift helicopters. This contract follows the Army’s February 2024 decision to transition the CH-47F Block II program to full-rate production. With this latest order, Boeing is now under contract to deliver nine of the planned 465 helicopters, with funding for the latest batch already secured through Congressional appropriations. Boeing had also previously received a contract for long-lead parts procurement. The first CH-47F Block II was delivered in June 2024, followed by a second in September, marking steady progress in the Army’s efforts to upgrade its heavy-lift helicopter fleet.
