The British Army is seeking an autonomous collaborative platform (ACP) to work with its Apache AH-64E attack helicopters. Similar to the Royal Air Force’s StormShroud ACP, this system will conduct reconnaissance, target acquisition, strike missions, and countermeasure suppression—increasing the survivability and lethality of Apaches. The notice from the Ministry of Defence specifies that the ACP must support vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL), carry 200+ kg payloads, and use a high level of autonomy, minimizing manual control. Its functions will be enabled by AI, digital twins, synthetic environments, and secure digital networks. To advance discussions, the army will host an industry workshop on August 21 at Defence BattleLab in Dorset. This is part of the UK’s modernization push to integrate uncrewed systems with manned combat aircraft.
