The US Army is issuing 1,700 new Stratus navigation devices after a fatal Black Hawk collision with a commercial jet in DC. The Fort Belvoir-based 12th Aviation Battalion, involved in the January accident, is receiving priority deployment. Stratus integrates with pilot tablets to deliver real-time weather and aircraft data. While the crash remains under investigation, the Army is expanding location-tracking systems to enhance flight safety.
