The US Army is exploring a commercially driven midlife overhaul for its UH-60M Black Hawk fleet to keep the helicopters operational beyond 2050. Under a proposed plan, industry would refurbish 12–24 aircraft annually, fully disassembling each airframe for inspection, repair, corrosion control, and structural upgrades. Managed by the Utility Helicopters Project Office, the effort would expand sustainment capacity as more than 2,000 UH-60Ms age. The move complements ongoing modernization work, including autonomy, AI integration, digital backbone upgrades, and improved range and payload.
