The US Air Force is advancing a $99 million project called ATA-AI (Advanced Tracking Architecture Using AI) to counter rapidly evolving threats. Launched in 2024, the initiative focuses on creating advanced multi-source target tracking systems using AI, machine learning, and high-powered computing. By processing massive datasets such as 3D pixels, vectors, and point clouds, ATA-AI aims to deliver faster and more accurate battle tracking. The project will enhance aircraft and sensor performance by enabling optimized tracking of fast, evasive, or stealthy threats. Once operational, ATA-AI is expected to transform aerial engagement by integrating massive streams of data into actionable intelligence in real time.
