Belgium will expand its H145M helicopter fleet with the purchase of five additional aircraft—three destined for Defence and two for the Federal Police—bringing the total planned fleet to twenty. The Council of Ministers approved the buy as part of Belgium’s ongoing helicopter modernization strategy, which aims to create a unified, rapidly deployable fleet for crisis response and internal security. Defence Minister Theo Francken and Interior Minister Bernard Quintin emphasized that the new helicopters will reinforce national capabilities during emergencies and complement previous orders of 15 H145Ms. Defence will manage all upkeep, certification, and financing, ensuring the entire fleet operates under a single coordinated framework.
