“The UK and Ukraine have signed an agreement to collaborate on battlefield technology with the goal of enhancing drone manufacturing and integrating the capabilities of the defense industries of both nations.
During Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit to Downing Street, where he met with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, the agreement was made public.
According to the agreement, British defense businesses will get access to battlefield data from Ukraine in order to expedite the development, manufacture, and supply of military equipment for frontline deployment.
The British government said, “Ukraine is the global leader in drone design and implementation, with drone technology advancing, on average, every six weeks.”
“Initially, the industrial partnership is expected to increase information and expertise sharing between the UK and Ukraine on drone-based air defense, but the agreement also paves the way for both countries to work on capabilities for the future, long after the war finishes,” it continued.
The first agreements between Ukrainian and British defense firms are anticipated in the next several weeks.
The program will be financed for the next three years by the UK’s 4.5 billion pound ($6 billion) military aid package for Ukraine this year, as well as a pledge to give the war-torn nation 3 billion pounds ($4 billion) in annual assistance going forward.
