Flying Wedge Defence and Aerospace has unveiled plans to develop a 1-ton MALE variant of its Kaalbhairav UAV, marking its entry into higher-end unmanned systems. The platform, designed with a twin-boom and pusher configuration, is optimized for endurance, stability, and payload flexibility. It is expected to operate at altitudes of up to 20,000 feet and support ISR missions such as border surveillance and maritime monitoring. The UAV may also be equipped for precision strike roles, aligning with global trends toward multi-role unmanned platforms. With potential integration of EO/IR sensors, radar systems, and communication payloads, the system aims to compete with established MALE-class drones while addressing India’s operational needs.
