The US government has approved a potential $1.5-billion Foreign Military Sale to Austria for 12 UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters and associated support equipment. According to the US State Department, the acquisition is intended to strengthen Austria’s defense capabilities, improve its ability to address future security challenges, and enhance interoperability with US and allied forces during joint operations. The package is also expected to contribute to regional stability by supporting a key European partner. The proposed transaction has been formally submitted to the US Congress for review and approval before it can proceed.
