On December 2, 2024, Helsing, a defense-focused artificial intelligence company, officially unveiled the HX-2 Karma, an intelligent loitering munition designed for precision strike missions. Speculation had surrounded the so-called “strike drone,” especially in light of Germany’s pledge to supply 4,000 armed drones to Ukraine. The HX-2 Karma is an electrically powered, X-wing-configured munition capable of striking targets up to 100 km away. Its X-shaped design incorporates four wings and rotors, enabling agile flight. Optimized for mass production, the AI-driven system is resistant to electronic jamming and supports swarm operations. The platform’s development and capabilities are rooted in Helsing’s operational insights gained from the conflict in Ukraine.
