Renault Group and Thales have entered into a strategic partnership to jointly develop and manufacture the Toutatis loitering munition, with production expected to reach up to 1,000 units per month. Announced during Eurosatory 2026 in Paris, the collaboration combines Renault’s industrial-scale manufacturing expertise with Thales’ defense technology capabilities. The initiative is intended to strengthen France’s domestic drone production ecosystem and increase national capacity for unmanned aerial systems. The agreement also reflects broader European efforts to enhance sovereign defense manufacturing and reduce dependence on foreign suppliers following lessons learned from recent conflicts.
