Performance Drone Works has received a conditional loan commitment of as much as $820 million from the US Department of Defense’s Office of Strategic Capital. The funding will help the company expand US-based manufacturing of important unmanned aerial system components.

The proposed financing, together with private capital, is expected to increase production of several key technologies. These include propulsion systems, power-control systems, and vision technology used in unmanned aircraft.

The expansion will center on PDW’s 90,000-square-foot facility in Huntsville, Alabama. The site covers approximately 8,361 square meters and provides the company with a foundation for increasing production.

Additional manufacturing capacity will also support local industry partners operating with PDW. The initiative therefore combines federal financial support with private investment to strengthen domestic production of UAS-related components. The project is focused on expanding industrial capacity rather than only increasing the output of finished unmanned aircraft.
