Taiwan plans to produce 1,320 Kuai Chi USVs in the next five years, marking a major investment in unmanned naval warfare. The vessels will be built and delivered in three batches, distributed across the Navy’s Coastal Combat Command, Marine Corps, and Army Special Operations Command. Overseen by Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense and Naval Command Headquarters, the mass production of these USVs underscores Taipei’s push to fortify coastal defenses and strengthen asymmetric deterrence amid growing regional tensions. The fleet will play a central role in enhancing Taiwan’s ability to counter larger adversarial navies through swarming tactics and distributed operations.
