Boeing has unveiled plans for the Collaborative Combat Rotorcraft (CxR), an autonomous tiltrotor drone intended to serve as a wingman for U.S. military aircraft. The drone concept is designed for multiple missions, ranging from logistical support to maritime strike operations. Boeing anticipates the CxR will achieve speeds of up to 250 knots (288 miles per hour) while carrying a maximum payload of 2,000 pounds. The program aligns with broader efforts to expand autonomous, networked aviation capabilities that complement manned platforms.
