Axiscades Technologies, a company in India, and the French defense company Cilas have inked a memorandum of understanding to bring the Helma P high energy laser counter drone system to India.
The system will be integrated with Axiscades’ command and control architecture and its mobile, vehicle-mounted counter drone platforms under the initiative.
In order to fulfill India’s aim of becoming self-sufficient in the defense industry while simultaneously satisfying the nation’s operational needs, sensors, command and control, and local maintenance must all be indigenized.

The tested technology is able to detect, identify, track, and neutralize agile targets with great accuracy in both open operational theaters and congested urban settings.
The Helma-P has previously been utilized in real-world situations, such as the Paris 2024 Olympics, proving its utility in a high-profile security setting.
It can neutralize threats by optical jamming or physical destruction and has a longer engagement range of 1.7 kilometers (0.62–4.34 miles).
With a little visible signature and no need for ammo, which eliminates per engagement firing costs, the system produces its results silently.
Helma-P is capable of neutralizing rockets, mortars, artillery, improvised explosive devices, radars, and robots in addition to unmanned aerial vehicles.
