Indian defence startup Aryavart Technologies has introduced a new tactical unmanned aerial vehicle called TEJAS STOL, aimed at supporting long-range battlefield and surveillance missions. The Bhopal-based company, which earlier supplied the ARYA-5001 UAV to the Indian Air Force, developed the new platform to address evolving military and border security requirements. The TEJAS STOL is a fixed-wing drone equipped with vehicle-launch capability and Short Take-Off and Landing functionality, enabling operations from compact and austere locations without conventional runways. The UAV combines indigenous engineering with autonomous flight systems and secure communication architecture designed for use in electronically challenging combat environments. The platform is capable of carrying advanced Electro-Optical and Infrared payloads to support intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance operations during day and night conditions. It is also designed for high-speed tactical performance combined with long-endurance mission capability, allowing extended surveillance over operational areas. Another major feature of the UAV is its Electronic Warfare-resistant navigation and communication systems. These systems are designed to maintain operational reliability even in environments affected by GPS spoofing, electronic jamming, or communication interference. The rapid deployment capability provided by its vehicle-launch design allows frontline units to quickly launch the UAV from tactical vehicles or remote forward locations, making it highly useful for border security, counter-insurgency operations, and surveillance in difficult terrain. The launch of TEJAS STOL further demonstrates the increasing contribution of Indian private-sector companies toward building a self-reliant defence drone ecosystem under the government’s indigenous defence manufacturing initiatives.
