India has approved the establishment of a National Military Drone Technology Hub in Uttar Pradesh with an investment of 5 billion rupees ($52.9 million). Located at IIT Kanpur, the facility will support the development of indigenous unmanned systems and counter-drone technologies. The hub is expected to provide comprehensive capabilities covering payload integration, system validation, communications networks, ground-control stations, and defensive technologies. Officials view the project as a key step in strengthening domestic defense innovation and reducing reliance on foreign drone technologies.
