India has unveiled plans for a carrier-capable Naval Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle (NUCAV), marking a significant advancement in the country’s naval aviation modernization strategy. Derived from the indigenous Ghatak stealth drone program, the platform is envisioned as a multi-role system capable of strike missions, reconnaissance, self-defense, and aerial refueling. The initiative highlights New Delhi’s growing emphasis on autonomous combat systems and their integration into carrier operations. Once developed, the NUCAV is expected to enhance the Indian Navy’s ability to project power, extend surveillance coverage, and conduct complex missions in contested maritime environments.
