Sweden’s Defence Materiel Administration has awarded Saab a contract worth approximately 1.5 billion Swedish krona for the supply of Trackfire Remote Weapon Stations equipped with counter-drone capabilities. The order supports the Swedish Army and the Amphibious Battalion 2030 initiative, which focuses on strengthening Sweden’s coastal and archipelagic defense posture in line with NATO integration requirements. Deliveries are scheduled between 2026 and 2028. Trackfire is designed for highly dynamic combat environments and can be deployed on naval platforms, land vehicles, or fixed installations. Its stabilized sensor system, isolated from weapon recoil, enables continuous target tracking and faster engagement. For counter-uncrewed aerial system missions, Trackfire can be armed with the 30×113mm M230LF Bushmaster chain gun using proximity-fuzed ammunition. The system is also compatible with heavy machine guns and grenade launchers, and can integrate electronic warfare and non-lethal effectors.
